Talking about 1.5-2inch! 1.25 is the max you guys should run, depending on the wheel offset. Eg: Stock wheels + 1.25 spacers are plenty good. You start going bigger spacer, you're looking at wheel bearing replacement much much sooner and more often. Especially if you guys wheel your trucks!

The '97 Owner's Manual says to use the following: Transfer Case: Multipurpose Gear Oil API GL-4 or GL-5 Recommended SAE 75W-90. Front Differential:Remove the oil fill cap, and set it aside (the plastic engine cover is a good spot). This will help the oil drain out easier and faster. The primary symptom for diff wear or incorrect set-up (worn bearings/incorrect backlash) is noise typically described as a whine.There were only two notable differences I encountered in my swap from a 99 tacoma to a 99 4runner. 1. The bolt pattern for the front strut top plate. The bolt pattern is rotated 60 degrees. 1. Used someones old headers to build a wooden jig to weld on 2.5" pipes and flanges instead of cats, non inspection state. If I were to do it again I would reduce to 2.25" and flanges to better mate to the stock or even aftermarket y pipes. 2. Next using a 7mm socket, remove the zerk. Now push up and down on the front and rear bumpers to get a little movement in the slide yokes.
