Picked up a strange BNZ K98. No Markings, no original serial number, except what looks like another countries serial. No Waffenamts, the receiver ring has no indications of grinding or removed markings. Mismatched rifle Czech bolt. Can anybody help me figure this thing out?Bnz43's in their original state have very sterile stocks. Some with no markings or maybe a small e/623 on the bottom. Or a c stock with appropriate proof. This rifle has a stock marked more like a bnz41 and the upper band is more correct for a 41/ 42 bnz. Not 1943. Good news is the base rifle looks correct.

I just picked up a 98 mauser action that has nothing stamped across the top of the reciever ring and on the bolt handle side of the receiver clear up to the front instead of having 3 waffenamts on them like the Nazi era rifles this has what looks like a crown over B or crown over D and there are 3 stampings on the front ...The K98 rifle is a very strong rifle, originally designed for the rigors of combat.
