The beam is collimated from 4 diodes. 4 diodes can never be combined that efficiently. The minimum spot size with a really good lens is about 0.015 to 0.02.If you want to get your feet wet and have some fun, snag it now. I love my LaserMATIC 10 ! Also the 20w head will fit on the 10 watt machine from what Rich has said so you could always get the machine now and then upgrade the head down the road when its released if you think you want/need it. Yep, the USB cables they were providing in one batch were sub-standard and some had issues. I always use my own quality cables and never have this issue. I did have this issue with the LaserMATIC 10 when I first got it and I did use the factory cable because I was expecting better quality.
